Five treasures of the Excellent Snow” is a term used for the cluster of five peaks which are located along the India-Nepal border in the Great Himalayas. These are officially identified as Kanchenjunga which is really a Tibetan and Bhutia derived name in Nepali language. The 5 treasures denote the five repositories of God, which are gold, silver, gems, grain, and holy books. Kanchenjunga , the third highest mountain of the globe is the highest mountain peak of India which has an elevation of 8,586 m (28,169 ft) which was 1st climbed on Might 25, 1955 by Joe Brown and George Band, who were portion of a British expedition.

The geographic place of Kanchenjunga is surrounded by three territories: Sikkim in the south and east, Nepal in the west, and Tibet in the north. Kanchenjunga is also associated with a legend to be home of the “Kanchenjunga Demon”, a sort of yeti or rakshasa. Kanchenjunga is also popular for its tremendous views from the hill station of Darjeeling. Even though Kanchenjunga keeps a massive attraction for the trekkers however it has a tough access from both Nepalese and Indian sides, so most of its region is nevertheless to be explored by the mountaineers and the adventurers.

The total 5 peaks of Kanchenjunga have the following elevations:

  • Kanchenjunga Principal: eight,586 m
  • Kanchenjunga West: 8,505 m
  • Kanchenjunga Central: eight,482m
  • Kanchenjunga South: eight,494m
  • Kangbachen: 7,903m

Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain of the globe is also called Sewalungma ( Mountain supplying gratitude to Sewalungma ) in the local Limbu language and it is deemed a sacred place in the Kirant religion.
