Largely, the Golden Pheasants are regarded as as domestic birds which are found in zoos and aviaries. However, Golden Pheasants choose to reside in the dense conifer forests. The remainder of the habitat ought to contain some wetlands, grassland, and woodland or brushy thickets.

Chinese Pheasant or Golden Pheasant

The adult male Golden Pheasant is 35.5 to 41.33 inches in length, its tail accounting for two-thirds of its length. They also have a golden-yellow crest with a hint of red at the tip. The face, throat, chin, and the sides of neck are rusty tan. The upper back is green and the rest of the back and rump are golden-yellow in color. The female Golden Pheasant has lesser glaring look with a duller mottled brown plumage similar to that of the female Common Pheasant. She is darker and far more slender than the hen of that species, with a proportionately longer tail (half her 60–80 cm length).

The diet of Chinese Pheasant or Golden Pheasant consists of grains, leaves and roost in trees at night. Even though they can fly, they choose to run: but if startled they can abruptly burst upwards at fantastic speed, with a distinctive wing sound.
