The men and women of Serbia adore to dance together in a large group which is one of the phenomenal features of the Serbian heritage. The most famous traditional dance of Serbia is known as “KOLO” which is called as Kono in the Serbian language. The continued practice to execute Kolo or Kono is to dance it collectively nonetheless, minimum three to 4 individuals could also be noticed dancing Kolo. This folk dance is named Kolo since the dancers hold every other by the hands or around the waist and usually dance in a circle.

The dance is accompanied by instrumental two-beat music with the identical name, made most frequently with an accordion, but also with other instruments frula (traditional type of a recorder), zurlatapan, or harmonica. Generally the dancers do not move their upper body parts while dancing Kolo. There are several varieties of Kolo that are practiced in different parts of Serbia. Kraljevo Kolo, Nevan Kolo, Velico Backo Kolo, Morovac Kolo, Uzicko Kolo, Zikino kolo and Cacak Kolo are the common varaities of Kolo, the standard dance of Serbia.

Studencia Monastery, a 12th-century Serbian Orthodox Monastery in central Serbia, was declared by the Republic of Serbia as  Monument of Culture of Exceptional Importance in 1979. UNESCO deemed it as the largest and richest of Serbia’s Orthodox monasteries and enlisted it in Planet Heritage Sites in 1986. It is situated 39 km southwest of Kraljevo, in central Serbia.

It was established in the late 12th century by Stevan Nemanja, founder of the medieval Serb state. This ancient internet site includes the Church of the Virgin, and the Church of the King, constructed with  white marble and are surrounded by fortified walls. The collection of 13th- and 14th century Byzantine-style fresco paintings are also one of the prominent parts of this monastery. St Sava Nemanjic, the founder’s youngest son also founded here the Serbian Orthodox Church, which was separate from that of Byzantium.

Studencia has received time to time restoration and care by the rulers. King Radoslav also produced a fabulous antechamber in the church in 1235. King Milutin also constructed a stunning church dedicated to saints Joachim and Anna over right here. But after  the fall of the medieval Serbian states in 1459, the Turks attacked often here and offered loss to this monastery. In the 17th century, an earthquake and a fire occurred in the monastery, and the most component of the historic artistic heritage have been destroyed and lost forever.

Church of St. Nicholas is popular for the traces of ancient magnificent frescos. The primary fresco layer in the major church was created by St. Simeon Nemanja and St. Sava. Mother of God of Studenica fresco is the symbol of spiritual mother of the Serbian state. The fresco styles of Cyrillic in the churches have been designed prior to Constantinople gave independence to the Church of Serbia as a challenge to its jurisdiction. The fresco of the Crucifixion practically governs the complete Western wall of the main sanctuary. These all  frescoes have been made with a theme of religious goal and also to serve with education. These generally represented the healing and salutary exercises for gaining spirituality.
