Sohan Halva is a classic Pakistani sweet which is ready by boiling a mixture of water, sugar, milk and corn flour till it becomes strong. It is believed that Sohan Halva was invented by Dewan Sawan Mal, the ruler of Multan in 1750. This sweet was presented to the royal guests and also utilised to send as a gift to other kings and aristocrats as a symbol of friendship. It became so well-known that this royal sweet was named right after Dewan Sawan.

Apart from Pakistan, Sohan Halva is also quite famous in Northern Parts of India where it is typically produced by Muslim sweet makers.
