Heat tolerant and frost sensitive Acacia Nilotica is a native tree of Africa and Indian Subcontinent. Acacia nilotica is a complicated species with 9 subspecies, of which six are native to Africa, three of them to the Sahel 3 other folks are native to the Indian sub-continent, of which 1 has been introduced to East Africa from India (subsp. indica). The excellent soil for the development of Acacia Nilotica may be of permanent or sub-permanent soil moisture in nature. That is why, it is discovered in wet soils even below climatically desert circumstances of the South Sahara, South Arabian Peninsula and East Africa.

Acacia nilotica is a distinguished tree due to its bright yellow flowers in round heads, straight stipular spines frequently slightly deflexed, and dark indehiscent pods compressed more than the seeds. Flowering is prolific, and can occur a quantity of instances in a season. The species can be direct seeded or established by seedlings. In the nursery extended poly tubes (20 x 7 cm) need to be used so as not to restrict rapid tap root growth. Acacia nilotica is naturally widespread in the drier locations of Africa, from Senegal to Egypt and down to South Africa, and in Asia from Arabia eastwards to Pakistan, India, Myanmar and Sri Lanka. It has also been cultivated elsewhere, which includes Australia, Cape Verde islands, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Nepal, Vietnam, and the West Indies.

The wood of Acacia nilotica is largely in use because thousands of years. In India and Pakistan, its plantations are managed on a 15-20 year rotation for fuel wood and timber. Acacia nilotica, the thorny Afro-Asian tree may also be employed for medicinal purposes, as a demulcent or for circumstances such as gonorrhoea, leucorrhoea, diarrhea, dysentery or diabetes. It is styptic and astringent. In Siddha medicine, the gum is used to consolidate otherwise watery semen.
